At St. Peter Lutheran Church, we offer a number of classes and seminars designed to help you and your family to grow in your faith. Some are ongoing while others are offered at various times throughout the year. These include:
Sunday Morning Education Hour at 9:15 AM
- Adult Bible Class – offers in-depth studies of selected books of the Bible. It teaches biblical truths applicable to Christian life today, in a setting that encourages you to interact with the text, share ideas and ask questions. This is normally taught by our pastor.
- Sunday School Classes from age 4 through grade 5 – provide interactive lessons that focus on God and His love as it applies to the daily life of a child. Stories, activities and age-appropriate crafts are designed to point the child to Jesus, our Savior.
- Middle School Bible Discovery – a two-year survey of the Old and New Testaments, typically for those in grades 7-8 that helps students to understand the structure and major themes and stories found in our Bible. This is typically a prerequisite for participating in the Rite of Confirmation (along with completing the Discipleship 101 class).
Discipleship 101 (youth confirmation class) – a 10-session seminar that helps young people to understand the most significant doctrines and teachings of the Christian Church. These topics include the nature of God (as described in the Apostle’s Creed), God’s Law (the 10 Commandments), God’s Grace and His plan of Salvation for us, Holy Baptism, the Lord’s Supper and more.
Discovering My Faith – an introductory class for adults who are new to the Christian faith or the Lutheran Church. This ten-week seminar concentrates on the primary elements of our faith including our understanding of God, forgiveness, prayer, Heaven, Holy Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Utilizing video and other resources, this seminar prepares adults for full participation in the life of our church through their public confession of faith (sometimes referred to as “Confirmation”).
